@jadburner
Are you in the US media MID:Ritek BR4? Have you ever met such sales?
They have support for writing x16.

I have never seen any RITEK-BR4. I tried some Ritek discs marked as 12x BD-R a year or so ago, but they were RITEK-BR3 and burned very poorly. If there are any RITEK-BR4 around, I'd love to try some.

Strange that even on the site RITEK nothing about this media.
Maybe they just test it and prepare for production?

Yes, more than likely they provide support for that MID in anticipation that it might come out. The same situation occurred when some DVD drive manufacturers put support for MKM-004 in their firmware, even though that MID was never available.

@jadburner :)

Have you tested the BDR-S11J-X CD Check settings?
Do Full and Quick settings change strategy and write speed of CD-R?
Are there any visible differences in CD-R drive performance in these two modes?

I have not yet checked those settings. Mine is currently set to Full. I'll check them out and report back.

I tried to use the Check CD option, but it requires an audio CD. It does not appear to work with a blank CD or a music CD. I'll check, but I'm not sure if I have any audio CDs.

It looks like this setting only applies to the CD-R Audio audio read mode.:wow:

I agree that it doesn't make any sense for Pioneer not to include that feature in their BDR-X09 and BDR-X11 series drives. Unless they don't wan't to expend the resources to maintain it? ???

This is probably the same reason why Pioneer does not design or manufacture DVD drives.
The drastic reduction of the optical market has resulted in huge cost reductions and therefore QSI drives clones today are the true Pioneer DVRs ...:(
