Hi, sorry for writing in English (below is a Polish translation from translator), but this is probably the last live forum dealing with burning
CD, DVD, BDR media.
The thing is that I recently bought a Pioneer BDR-XD08 from a private seller on the marketplace
and tried to burn it to relatively cheap JVC BD-R media with CMCMAG-BA5(000).
Unfortunately, you can see the results in the attached pictures. I thought Pioneer was a good brand of burners, it is recommended everywhere, maybe this model is not so good? Or was I unlucky with bad media? But my other burner LG-BH16NS55 burned it much better. It is not a super-quality recording, but the difference is big.


Witam, że ostatnio kupiłem na marketplace od prywatnego sprzedawcy nagrywarkę Pioneer BDR-XD08 i próbowałem wypalić na stosunkowo tanim nośniku JVC BD-R z CMCMAG-BA5(000). Niestety wyniki widać na załączonych zdjęciach.
Myślałem, że Pioneer to dobra marka nagrywarek, wszędzie jest polecana, może ten model nie jest aż tak dobry? A może miałem pecha z niewłaściwymi nośnikami? Ale moja inna nagrywarka, LG-BH16NS55, wypalała znacznie lepiej. Nie jest to super jakość zapisu, ale różnica jest duża.

Welcome to the forums, huh22! That particular MID (CMCMAG-BA5) is either very good or very bad. The Verbatim branded ones (and some MediaRange) are almost always excellent, but most others are low quality as you're seeing. You will see the same results on all Pioneer drives that I've tested.

Pioneer drives are excellent burners in general, unless you feed them bad media. If you can, try burning some media of known good quality to see if you get better results. If not, you may have a bad drive or one that needs cleaning.

Hardware defect management is usually best used on multi-layer discs, to avoid problems at the layer break.

Thanks for the information. Anyway, I don't think I can do anything wrong with it, only the burning speed will be slower. I have some other media and will try them over time, I don't have enough data to burn yet.

you do not need "Format defect area in ImgBurn with Preferred" for this mid with showed level of LDC/BIS.

For some multi-layer discs- to avoid problems at the layer break.

And may be for 1 layer discs with small local defects
for example - see my test with BD-RE
I have several Mitsubishi BD-RE made in Japan with such high MAX LDC|BIS
