are there any fundamental differences between the
s12j-x
s13j-x?
(sorry not allowed to put direct links)
-I see different front panels
- a couple different write speed:
M-DISC BD;SL 4x vs 6x
CD-R 40x vs 48x

Do NOT install the 1.05 firmware on your BDR-S12J-X! It's sole purpose is to prevent downgrading or crossflashing your drive. Stick with 1.01.

Thank you very much.
do you mean crossflashing for unofficial firmware?

Crossflashing the drive to a different model.

Crossflashing the drive to a different model.

Interesting.
I wonder what model firmware can give something additional for BDR-S12J-X? I read UHD movie lovers modify something, but I don't need it. if Pioneer could test the quality of BD-R recording it would be great, but it seems there are no such options.

If you want to test the quality of your BD-R recordings, you'll need to look on eBay for a Lite-On (or clone) iHBS112/212/312, or an LG WH16NS48/58.

is CD audio check (Pioneer utility) should be work with audio CD-R? on the factory compacts it works, but on the audio CD-r of those that came to hand does not work - writes the wrong disk
