Your point about OPC off giving better results is also true most of the time. There are a few drive/MID exceptions, but you're generally better off leaving OPC set to off/no.

Thanks. That's a lot of information. Are you able to post a single DQ scan for the 205 and one for the 212J-X, burned at the same speed? Also, could you post as PNG instead of JPG? PNG scales better when zooming in. Thanks.

Just as some side notes:

Usually burning 25GBs are really no-brainers if you go with decent media.

My main point is and was that multi-layer discs get more and more critical sinc this is a declining business regarding manufacturing discs and companies move their equipment to lower cost countries and these discs get worser towards the future.

To still get decent results with multi-layer discs burning with spare areas is a good approach to avaoid layer break issues.

An observation burning to spare areas. A soon as max LDC is approx. 1500 or BIS is at 30 to 50 the drive will use the spare area. My conclusion is that the error correction in the drive can compensate to this level and that those values are really these when the burn gets critical. The table Stingray posted refers mostly to average levels while the peak levels I mention here are the real ones that matter if you don't want to end up with read errors.
