Robert Kubica has escaped injury in his Canadian Grand Prix crash today and will be released from hospital tomorrow.

The BMW Sauber driver made contact with Toyota's Jarno Trulli on the approach to the hairpin, his car taking off and hitting the concrete wall head-on.

After being airlifted to hospital in Montreal, and with speculations that the 22-year-old may have suffered a broken leg, the team received news that he has likely escaped without injury.

BMW chief Mario Theissen told autosport.com: "We have just go the information from the hospital that he is unhurt.

"He will stay in hospital overnight, but he will be released tomorrow morning."

Theissen said Kubica only lost conscious momentarily when the car came to a halt, following the impact, and the German described his driver's lucky escape as "unbelievable."

However, as for whether or not the Pole will race in next weekend's US Grand Prix, Theissen said it was too early to know.

"This decision will only be taken at Indianapolis," he said. "There will be a medical check, and we'll see then."

Initial reports from team members that Robert Kubica had suffered a broken leg as a result of his accident in Montreal have proved to be wide of the mark. The latest news from the hospital is that the Pole has no broken bones. He is staying in hospital under observation in case there are any questions with concussion but it seems that he is not seriously hurt.

There will still be questions about whether he can race next weekend in Indianapolis but if he is not cleared to race, it is almost certain that his replacement will be Timo Glock.

"I will talk to Robert, then I will talk to the engineers and then I will talk to you," Dr Mario Theissen said when asked about his plans.

Jarno Trulli said after the Canadian grand prix that Robert Kubica's crash was caused by the BMW driver hitting him from behind.

Poland's Kubica was lucky to survive the horror 280kph accident at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, with television replays showing that he made contact with Trulli's Toyota prior to spearing off at full speed.

"I had not moved from my line but when I saw the car roll over I was very concerned," the Italian explained.

"When you see another colleague have such a big crash and you are hit from the back it's not a nice feeling."
