Thanks for sharing your test results. Your firmware appears to be newer than mine, or is vendor specific. I could not find any newer firmware online. I have several DL results to post, then will try some MCC 004.

I attach label of my drive if it helps to make any statistics. I bought it as Samsung spare part (at least box was labeled so), printed part number BA69-01025A, on label BA59-02991A.

I remeber that original TS-L633R unit in my laptop also produced awful burns on MCC 004 and I didn't want to make poor discs, so only one burned. Maybe I will do a trial with DVD-R RITEK F1 one day.

Luckily TS-LB23D is quite good CD/DVD reader (even scanner), so I keep it as all around unit.

Thanks for the label and the information. I noticed from your label that your drive is (presumably) hardware version or revision A of that drive. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I believe mine is version B (or C). It would be interesting to know what the differences are.

I made a quick scan on the internet, and my guess is that hardware version A is linked only to units without LS, while TS-LB23L appear to have versions B and C. Looking at HP OEMs it seems that there were both versions B and C, depending on manufacturing date. From the units available on e-bay it looks that they made transition from H/W version B with F/W 0400 to HW ver. C with F/W 0600 between June 2010 and February 2011.

On this page it's visible that there were even HP units with F/W 0500, but 0600 seems to be the latest one.


Zrobiłem szybkie skanowanie w Internecie i domyślam się, że sprzętowa wersja A jest połączona tylko z jednostkami bez LS, podczas gdy TS-LB23L wydaje się mieć wersje B i C. Patrząc na wersje HP, wydaje się, że były obie wersje B i C, w zależności od daty produkcji. Z jednostek dostępnych na e-bay wygląda na to, że zrobili przejście z wersji H/W ver. B z F/W 0400 na H/W ver. C z F/W 0600 między czerwcem 2010 a lutym 2011.

Na tej stronie widać, że były jeszcze jednostki HP z F/W 0500, ale 0600 wydaje się być najnowszym.

Thank for the link and your diligence. I double-checked mine, and it's hardware version C. I guess that's obvious, since it has firmware 0600. I did buy my TS-LB23L from eBay, and chose this particular one because it was listed as being new. Have you tried any DVD-R tests?
