Questions HDDs
Is it possible to prevent the demagnetization of HDDs or is the demagnetization of HDDs an inevitable phenomenon caused by storage conditions (humidity and temperature of my room storage)?
I store the 2.5" laptop HDDs + USB3.0 enclosure inside the original cardboard boxes and inside the cabinet drawer, but next to the cabinet there is a 29" CRT TV with a speaker and in the drawer above the drawer where the HDDs are, there are 4 internal SATA DVD burner units for PCs (I think they have magnets). Will the CRT TV and DVD drive cause disturbances and damage the magnetism of these 2.5" laptop HDDs? |
??? up
Not possible to prevent, only option is to re-transfer to other HDD and back.
is very danger demagnetization and humiduty and temperature influence?
No. Only strong magnets.
I am referring to the loss or weakening of the magnetic platters and heads, which causes data loss or corruption.
Does the temperature and humidity of the environment where they are stored accelerate this type of degradation? |
As stated b4 NO, humidity will only cause degradation of PCB.

Temperature home storage acelerates demagnetize?
operating temperature, storage temperature, humidity, age (manufactured in 2010) on 2.5" and 3.5" HDDs all cause long term demagnetization and bit rot of these HDDs?

Just keep an eye on S.M.A.R.T. values and act accordingly when it's necessary. |
Some people say that humidity and high temperature (34-36C, 57-67%) causes demagnetization and bit rot in 2.5" HDDs, other people say that it does not and that only strong magnets cause these problems, what is the truth?
So, truth is like asshole, everyone have one. lol2 ;)
Will long-term storage of 2.5" HDD at 34-36C and 58-68% humidity cause demagnetization of the platters? demagnetize corrupt files
I don't think there is anything to add in this topic.
