Cytat:
Thanks again for that suggestion! I ordered two more of those adapters just in case they stop making them. I wonder what the extra commands are that the BDR-211UBK specifically needs that my enclosures don't pass but the Benfei and plain SATA do. |
Glad that the Benfei I recommended could fix it. And it shows that some USB-> SATA bridges don't pass all commands.
|
So it's not Windows 11 after all ;).
I suspected it was the 1.54 firmware in the BDR-211UBK being extra picky about the USB-SATA chipset, so I got the Benfei USB-SATA adapter recommended on the MakeMKV forum, and the BDR-211UBK works perfectly with it. So this confirms to me that the BDR-211UBK on official 1.54 firmware is a lot more picky about USB-SATA chipsets than the BDR-212UBK on the official 1.05 firmware. Working great on Windows 11. |
Can you explain?
|
You've guess it ;)
|
Yep, Windows 11 25H2. Is there something specific about it?
|
Let me guess W11 ?

I did more testing. I connected the BDR-211UBK drive via SATA and LibreDrive works fine now.
So leaving this post up for those who have the same problem. Really bizarre that I have three other drives (2x Pioneer, 1x Asus) that work fine in three different USB enclosures. Only this BDR-211UBK refuses to run in LibreDrive mode over USB (connected directly to computer, no hubs), but it works over SATA. I'll do more testing and try different USB ports, too. This is so weird. |
Is the BDR-211UBK drive connected directly to SATA, or are you using it in an external USB enclosure?
If it's an external enclosure, connect the drive directly to the computer's USB port (with no USB hubs in between) or directly to a SATA port if you can. Also paste the full error log from MakeMKV. |
BDR-211UBK won't play 4K discs that BDR-212UBK plays fine
Hi folks, I have these two Pioneer UHD drives. A BDR-211UBK and a BDR-212UBK.
Th BDR-211UBK will not play 4K discs, it errors out with "Can't read AACS VID". Here's its info: Drive Information OS device name: E: Manufacturer: PIONEER Product: BD-RW BDR-211M Revision: 1.54 Serial number: QHDL004326WL Firmware date: 2023-02-08 Bus encryption flags: 13 Highest AACS version: 60 LibreDrive Information Status: Enabled Drive platform: RS8800 Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-211 Firmware type: Original (unpatched) Firmware version: 1.54/ID60 DVD all regions: Yes BD raw data read: Yes BD raw metadata read: Yes Unrestricted read speed: Yes This BDR-212UBK on the other hand plays all the 4K discs the BDR-211UBK won't play. I see that for both drives the highest sseen AACS version is v60. Can someone explain? Top |
