in this thread in MakeMKV forums, there was a guy that had a firmware version 1.01 of the TD04... and eventually he got it working to read blu-rays.
in my td04 the firmware version is 1.00.

For the Pioneer BDR-TD04, i do know its totally impossible to rip or play 4K UHD Disc's, just hope that it can be flashed for "Ripping and Playback of Regular Blu-Rays", just as the Pioneer BDR-TD05...
