The problem is not that the PS2 has a block on non official memory cards. The real problem is that SONY removed the 8v pin from the memory card slot connector which on 7500x or newer is left unconnected. Pirated/counterfeit PS1 memory cards use 5V flash memory so they need the 8v pin to step down to 5v. Some cards even use 5v to power both the flash memory chip and MCU, resulting on a situation where the card isn't detected.
Of course SONY did that to block the pirated cards, but the fix is super simple. :thumbsup: (Connect the pin of the controller port with 8v to the now loose pin on the memory card slot.)
