The PLDS DS-8DCSH model is a DVD-ROM that only reads CD and DVD media.
Models: LiteOn DS-8ACSH /LiteOn DS-8ABSH/ TEAC DV-W28S-C are CD and DVD writers with completely different designs.
Only the TEAC DV-28S-C is a clone / OEM of the PLDS DS-8DCSH design and only in this case is there a theoretical possibility of cross-flash provided that you have the firmware in bin format from Teac.

Thank you czary2mary for the information.
When trying to backup my PLDS DS-8DCSH firmware, different backup/dumping software yield different backup binary files. I tried the following software to backup the firmware:
- Codeguys's Flash Utility 7.2.0
- Codeguys's Flash Utility 6.0.1
- Karr's Flash Tool (LtnFW) v1.0.0
- Karr's LtnFlash v2.6.11
Codeguys's Flash Utility 6.0.1 and Karr's Flash Tool (LtnFW) v1.0.0 have the same binary output. All the other programs/versions listed provided different binary file output. Which, if any, of the output binary files would be correct?
After searching, I cannot find actual (not just TEAC's specification information) TEAC DV-28S-C drives; rather, I find drives in the form of DV-28S-[Some value] but not specifically with the "C" end value. Examples of what I find, DV-28S-W, DV-28S-V, and others not DV-28S-C.
Is there available official firmware from LiteOn/PLDS for the PLDS DS-8DCSH? Are the available firmware for the PLDS DS-8DCSH all OEM versions (HP, Lenovo, Toshiba, etc.)?
