I select NEC/LiteOn lasers by checking the time it takes the PLDS/NEC drives to recognize my test CDs and DVDs. I test the fastest ones in a Plextor 755/760 until I achieve satisfactory results. Sometimes several, sometimes a dozen, lasers are tested _ as I mentioned, different PX-755/760s can perform completely differently. At least for me, this method worked best.
