I think the 217/S17 was the last real Pioneer DVD-write, the next models were made by QSI Quanta.
Mecahnical quality is good, it´s not the most quiet writer but it have less vibrations than some other writers in the same speed category.
But overall I´m not so satisfied because of crazy PIF-spikes if scanning with MTK-based writers
