That's interesting but leaves one factor out. The quality of multi-layer discs has degraded substantially and no write strategy can fix this. If you want to burn movies you can use this fork of TSMuxer to avoid issues at the layer break(s) by filling that area with dummy data. However, this doesn't help if you just burn data discs.
