"Dear Sir,
the change to MWDMA2 is because of the incompatibilities of VIA chipsets.
You should not notice any problems because of that. When used with UDMA33,
the VIA chipset will cause problems with the CDRW-drive.
A new firmware will likely not change this, because the VIA problem must be solved
this way and overburning won't be supported, as far as we are informed.
Since the
firmwares and drives are engineered in Japan, we do not have much influence
on
that matters. NEC wants its drive to produce highly compatible media and
thus all
methods to break the cdrw-standards are not supported - that is the main
reason
why overburning and larger media will not work.
