Maybe. Try change EEPROM date to, for example, 30.10.2003 and then flash EEPROM and FIRMWARE (HS0E) again. I did it and my 401@411 works fine as 811 without any problems with media and LED. Burning DVD+R 8x takes about 8 minutes (TDK DVD+R certified 4x (RICOHJPN) works fine as 8x
