W sumie nowy bios (czyt.

pozdro!

I shall see if I can help with an explanation.

Basically UDF (Universal Data Format) and ISO 9660 are filing systems for CD's and DVD's. In order to dump data onto anything you need some kind of filing system (for example your windows harddrive will either be FAT16, FAT32 or NTFS, depending on which version of windows you are using).

UDF has gone through additonal re-iterations of its standard in order to promote future compatility (this does not seem to have worked).

UDF 1.2 is the 'most' compatible file system. Incidentally ISO9660 was created in order to support file systems on CD (allowing for file names of 8 characters and file extensions of 3 characters.) However ISO9660 has some limitations when it has to handle large amounts of data, as found a DVD. Thus UDF was created.

You will find that when you created a DVD to play video within Nero, one would choose UDF/ISO. This, I believe, is UDF using ISO9660 naming standard, however I expect there is probably more to it than that.

If within Nero you choose DVD-Video, it is in fact creating a UDF/ISO disc, but using UDF 1.5 format, not 1.2

Now why does Nero and other burning programs have both a UDF/ISO option and a DVD-Video option. The reason for this, certainly within Nero, is that if you choose DVD-Video Nero will check the file structure, i.e. that you have VIDEO_TS folder, and within that folder the correct files are in place, i.e. IFO, VOB's etc.etc. IF you use the UDF/ISO option it will not check for this.

Hope this helps as a starter of an explanation
