- The ASPI - Layer (Advanced SCSI Programmer's Interface) is the interface between the recorder and the recording software. Most programs which have access directly to the cdrom need ASPI-Layer.
In Windows95/98 the ASPI Layer is part from the OS the Layer has the following files:
windows\system\wnaspi32.dll
windows\system\winaspi.dll
windows\system\iosubsys\apix.vxd
windows\system\aspienum.vxd
Since the operating systems are normally equipped with older ASPI drivers, we recommend an update of the relevant drivers with the file ASPI32.EXE from ADAPTEC
www.adaptec.com.
Tip: this product searches for ADAPTEC products which are already installed (software/hardware). If you do not have an ADAPTEC product, please contact the software manufacturer.

- Another factor which might affect the communication between the writer and the source is the bus-master driver. Some bus-master drivers were not designed for CD-R/RW devices and therefore may disrupt the communication and cause the burning process to stop.
This may also happen even if you have already worked with these drivers successfully in the past. If you are experiencing problems we recommend to use the Windows standard drivers or update the present drivers.
Advice: please bear in mind that you have to restart the system after this procedure and that important unsaved data might be lost.
Note: some bus master chip manufacturers also require an update for the respective chipsets. Normally, you can download these updates from the manufacturer's webpage. These updates normally contain uninstall routines which you can use to uninstall the earlier drivers before installing or updating the bus master driver.
