I also failed to update despite tests on several computer hardware with Windows XP and different ATA \ IDE drivers and different ATA \ IDE controllers. Although the drive worked properly in the system, the RICON flasher either does not detect the drive or does not install firmware correctly or various other errors.
You probably need older ATA controllers from 2003 ~~ 2004 ....

@czary2mary - Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, I don't have any ATA controllers that old.

Pretty sure you missed nothing - ricoh's drives are generally shyte. :mruga:
