Hello to all,
it would be awesome if I could flash my Pioneer BDR-XS07TS to a XS07TUHD. Thanks in advance and have a nice weekend :) |

It seems that the BDR-S12UHT drive is currently not on sale anywhere in Europe, which is what I wanted to buy in the first place. If anybody is looking for a (still) flashable BDR-S12XLT, try German Amazon, search for B0887XPT2Q. The drive I ordered there recently was new and manufactured in April 22, still has the compatible firmware 1.01 |

Hello,
I'd like to crossflash a BDR-S12XLT (FW 1.01) to a UHD friendly version, possibly S12UHT. Could you please help? Thanks and best regards, Mik |

Ha, you got me now. :P
I didn't test before and was even not sure whether I have a TripleLayer UHD. Had to check first, but then I found some. Yes, all 3 Iron Man UHD's are recognized in makeMKV and play also in MPC-HC. Screenshot attached. Cheers Tom |
Great to know! Did you test triple-layer UHDs (discs larger than 66 GB) ?
|
My one was produced 2014, Hardware Revision 1 (SAT8600) and I flashed it today in the morning to 211EBK.
As I wrote above, very UHD friendly now. This means, tested 3 of my UHD's ad they were recognized. Started MPC-HC and played the UHD (for test). Personal opinion: I never regret to buy the 209EBK, very reliable and now with the update more valuable. Cheers Tom |

For LG/Asus drives I know the hardware is important, drives made before end of 2015 can't support UHD. I was wondering if this was the case for Pioneer too. |
The BDR-209EBK was produced in 2014, I don't know for how long.
There was a second hardware revision, I guess that was available in 2017/2018, but I am not so sure. Both harrdware revisions can be crossflashed. I don't think the manufacturer date is important, the most important is the firmware. I think Pioneer started in 2022 started to release Firmwares which prohibits crossflashing for upgrade, but the last firmware for the 209EBK was released in 2020 and therefore "safe". Cheers Tom |

! I understand that the latest firmwares make it impossible to crossflash and to become UHD friendly, so I'm looking for used or older models. From my understanding, 209EBK, S09XLT, 2209, 211EBK, 211M, 212EBK, 2212, 212M, S12XLT would be crossflashable to support UHD, but DBK variants not advised. Would all 09 series (except DBK) work, or is there a manufacturing date to look at? Are 08 series too old or could be covered? I dont speak polish, and it's quite difficult to make searches with G Translate... Sorry... |
