Pioneer DVR-104MB:

Efficient? Where do you have such OEM Compaq?
http://www.cdrinfo.pl/hardware/20801...ioneer-DVR-A04

Can you ask for pictures like looks and factory labels?
Is it possible to factory update to newer firmware?

I have DVR-A04 and DVR-104 \ 2
Pioneer DVR-A04
Pioneer DVR-104\2

I got the drive off of eBay a few years ago. Apparently it came from a Compaq desktop. I have not tried any burns yet, since I was hoping to upgrade the firmware first. I tried flashing with Pioneer firmware, bit it would not work.

Here's some photos of the drive:

jadburner, thank you very much for the screenshots and drive photos!

If you will decide to crossflash the drive, I will advice not to do it with DVRTool, until I'll test it personally on this drive. We had troubles with DVR-105 crossflashing twice - both times something went wrong and DVRTool hung after sendng the first part of kernel file (apparently waiting the response from the device) - as a result, two drives now require to flash the system controller using an external hardware (which I don't have). Since DVR-104 drives are rare, i will advice not to use DVRTool for their crossflashing, until everything will be tested.

Thank you very much for the photos. I have never met a version with a black front panel.

@blackened2687
Do you have any kernel for DVR-A04 \ 104 ? I have never met nor seen anywhere?

blackened2687, thank you for the warning. I'm in no rush to kill the drive, so I will wait until there's a safe way to update or crossflash the drive.

I have never met a version with a black front panel.

The only DVR-104M drives I've seen on eBay were always DVR-104MB, so I assume all of the Compaq versions were black.

Got something else from the first Pioneer models?
I recently watched Pioneer DVR-S201 but it was so damaged and damaged that I could not fix it.

I have a DVR-S201 also. It's in good condition, but I no longer have a SCSI connection to test it. :ysz:

We have practically no Pioneer DVR-S101 \ S201. I know only one place in Poland that used to have and used DVR-S201 ....
Too bad you no longer have a SCSI or SCSI adapter working ....
Please put this unique model with a picture in our museum.

Sure, I'll ad some photos. I was wrong about it being in good condition, it's actually in brand new, unused condition. :)

I'll see if I can do about getting it hooked up...
