Problem with CrossFlash Lite-On IHBS212 to Plextor PX-LB950SA
Hello,
I recently bought a new Lite-on IHBS212 (retail) on eBay and I found the following problem: The Drive burns on the media: "Verbatim BD-RE 2x" at only 1x speed. Burning is slow and poor quality. See Image below: https://i.postimg.cc/J0yv5CHq/01-IHBS212.png https://i.postimg.cc/MHbPDZK1/03-IHBS212.png Therefore, I decided to update the firmware in my drive from: https://www.firmwarehq.com/download_..._HL05.EXE.html to the version: "HL05" (Lite-on IHBS212 2) and the problem was not solved. Then I tried to CrossFlash at: "Plexor PX-LB950SA" using a binary file: "Plextor_px-LB950SA_GEN1_1.06.bin". Because my version of the drive is: "Lite-on IHBS212.BD Writer Board Rev: 01 Manufactured Date: March 2011." And I stopped at the program: "Flash program V2.3.46". See Picture below: https://i.postimg.cc/sDxDbM76/Flash-Program.png After flashing, the drive remains still as Liteon IHBS212. I restored the firmware back using "EEPROM UTILITY SE 6.2.0". I do not know if I have the right version of this program for Lite-on IHBS212 Rev1. UPDATE (change of Link): I followed the instructions here: Crossflash BluRay LiteOn iHBS+OEM+klony My question is: How can I complete this CrossFlash to solve this problem? *** Thank you very much.*** |
You need to drag'n'drop the firmware .bin file on the FUFlasher.exe in Windows Explorer. It'll auto-start the FUFlasher then, and should show the Update version 1.06. Ensure you're on the correct drive before flashing! Regarding the slow write speed, do you have verification during write active? That'll slow down the write speed to 50% of what you've chosen (i.e. 1x in this case of 2x writing).

Cytat:
Drag'n'drop for this program (fu_flasher.exe) does not work, the program does not allow the firmware to be dragged into the window. And the burning is equally slow even in the program "Nero Burning Rom".;) |
Not into the program window, the exe in Explorer, i.e. in the pic above you click on the bin file hold it and just drag it on the exe file above the bin. In Nero you have to open Recorder menu -> Drive selection -> Options button -> Disable defect management.

https://i.postimg.cc/MHFY1STY/Nero1.png The speed of burning in Nero is already OK, but in Opti Drive Control it cannot be set. Is there any possibility to turn this off on this drive? And one more question: How can I restore the original (backed) Lite-On firmware for multiple tests? I attempted to restore with: "EEPROM UTILITY with 6.2.0" (Restore Eeprom Button) and it failed. Thank you. |
The EEPROM is only for the laser calibration data, it's specific for each drive and shouldn't be changed. In order to go back to the original firmware you need a bin file og it, and use it with the FUFlasher like you did with the Plextor firmware.

Cytat:
If I drag the file: "ATAPI_iHBS212_2_HL05.bin" on the Exe file (FU_Flasher.exe). The program starts and exits immediately. Backup BIN file IHBS212 It has only 8 kb size. Plextor Firmware has 2 MB. I don't know where the problem could be. But the program: "EEPROM Utility SE 6.2.0" always creates only 8KB file. ;) |
Yes, the EEPROM Utility just saves the laser calibration data, thus the 8 kB file, it can not be used for firmware flashing. Only to restore the laser calibration data. You must use a firmware bin file, which is 2 MB.

OK, Thanx. :)
