On Pioneer's web site, firmware 1.03 for the BDR-212DBK was updated December 21, 2022. So it is only firmware versions 1.02 and earlier that can be crossflashed.

Ok, I just downgraded my other 212M from S12 1.03 to S12U 1.02, then updated to S12U 1.03. 1.03 seems to be still downgradable and crossflashable, 1.04 (and future firmwares) aren't anymore.
