yeah it's my case too. tried different adapters and enclosures with different old plextors cdrw but they don't work. best chance would be to try an old "true" external plextor (like 2410TU or 4012TU ) but i don't own any of them.
anyway, do you know if benq ew162i external case chipset is different from ew164 and how to disassemble it? (i had no problem taking off ew164 drive and change it, but i wasn't able to open ew162i )
if it's the same chipset i won't even try cause ew164 doesn't work with my plextors
