Heyo, I've just bought one of these that came in a nice but strange two-tone (really three-tone?) finish.

Unfortunately, it refuses to read any discs at all--orange light just blinks twice, on an endless loop. It's not worth trying to fix, right? Was sold used, not as is, so I expected it to work--if not really salvageable, I'll try to get a refund...

Ah, that's rough--thanks for letting me know. Is it certain that the lasers don't work? Is it worth trying to open the drive and cleaning it?

I have a similar problem (don't read cd or dvd anymore), tried to clean it and didn't solved anything.
Is there anything i can do to try to repair my old 716sa, anything changed in the last 4 years?

Nothing has changed - there are no new lasers on the market for this model

It's always worth trying, unless you have warranty seal some sort then it's not worth it

You have two independent diodes from the CD and DVD paths supplying the laser through the prism to the lens. As both do not work, there is a high probability of damage to the Plextor SRU3041 combined laser module.

szukam jakieś dobrej nagrywarki czy warto kupić 755A? Jestem raczej zielony w tym temacie i przewalnaie testow niewiele mi daje

moze mi cos o niej powiedziec z praktycznego pkt widzenia?
