hi Matt, i just updated to your latest "freemkv Ripper software version 1.8.6" Nice to see the drives listed, but as you know my desktop pc has 4 same drives in them. any chance to have the "Alphabet Name coding" in front to identify which one has a disc in them? thanks buddy. and i just Clicked "Open" as in "Eject" for any particular drive, and the software "Hang's" guess there's a "Bug" that needs to be looked into?

0.15.4 should enable UD02 to be cross flashed to a UD04. Should show on website. UD04 should NOT show as a cross flash to UD02. Just let me know of any quirks.

1959 drives that do not have UHD support may gain UHD support too if run through my modify app.

1939 UHD support is WIP.

Love how quiet this thread has gone, must mean its working for most part! Id suggest people stay on the version they are on if its working for them, only upgrade if they want to test new features but be ready to roll back. We seem to have a stable 0.15.3 and I dont want to be adding features and hurting the masses. So just pick and choose wisely.

i will definitely look forward to version 0.15.4, for testing out the UD02 to become a UD04. and i definitely will not blame you or your wonderful work even if i brick my drives. its a choice that only i will make. totally impressed with your work buddy. You Rock!!

UD02 now shows as a compatible cross flash to UD04. Ive tested this on my end and ripped a few discs. LMK!

Logs have been sent to you buddy.. it refuses to flash from ud02 to ud04. i used the latest version of your flasher too. version 0.15.4. (Bypass Option doesnt show up anymore too)
my 3 ud02 drives were manufactured in Oct 2012, Mar 2013, and Jul 2013.
i tried the oldest first (Oct 2012). it couldnt crossflash, so i tried the Mar 2013 next, that drive also couldnt crossflash. now i will try the last set from Jul 2013, and report back. keeping fingers crossed. (just tried the last set Jul 2013 set, and it cant crossflash also) so all 3 sets cant be crossflashed sadly.
Wow!! that was fast buddy!! so the "TDB" and the "FAN" was that thing that was causing the refusal to flash. i see now. cheers buddy. (All 3 sets of my ud02 are the "FAN" variant by the way)

looking now. My UD02 is march 2013 so age shouldnt be issue. Ill review logs.

Bypass didnt show as they now are considered compatible so no need to force it.

Edit: Mine is a BDR-UD02TBD yours is a BDR-UD02FAN and so it tripped up. It will be fixed and more robust in next release. Get those UHDs ready

it was me, the one that did the "Bypass" it is now safely back to being a S11JX, but the laser head reading discs, Skips while playing. i opened the drive up to clean the laserheads, but it still "Skips"
Its ok, just wanted to try the Changing of Sat 8800 to Sat8801. gonna try cleaning the laserheads tomorrow, and leave it exposed in the sunlight for awhile then report back.
love experimenting on these drives.

Where did you get such ideas?
Technically and structurally, this is completely different hardware.
Even though the lasers are physically identical, they are programmed differently for each hardware setup and are not interchangeable,the devices will not detect lasers from a different hardware system.
Don't do this again.

Try 0.16.0 for UD02 > UD04, should be out soon.

Modify app for meditek has improved too but needs testing, I am working with testers. Hit me up on discord if you can work more 1 on 1 with me around adding UHD support to non UHD MediaTek drives.

Based on your photos, it appears that both BD11T and BD12T boards are identical in terms of crossflash? Both have the same SAT numbers: 8601, 8801, 8F00, 8F01, 9000, 9001.

Added crossflashes to BDR-205 and others. They used to be labeled "Future" but should now be flashable in 0.16.1

Buddy!! You did it! i have sucessfully flashed all three UD02 "FAN" variants to be UD04's!!
but i remember you said your ud02 was a "March 2013 Batch" correct? i seem to have problems with my "March 2013" unit too.. guess it was a "Bad Batch" it can sense the UHD, but when it tries to rip the UHD, alot of errors pop up.. and it takes very very long to start playing uhd's. the other two ud02's are super fast at reading and ripping uhd's. the other 2 are from Oct 2012, and Jul 2013.
attached below is the error readouts from the "Mar 2013" drive..i have cleaned the laser head with isopropyl alcohol but its still the same. guess its just a "Bad Batch Run of drives for March 2013"

Honestly, the fact it flashes and works is all I can promise. The hardware was probably not built for UHD specs so 10+ years of who knows what usage may mean some just dont read perfectly. Mine does, and 2 of 3 of yours do. Thats a win.

2 weeks ago you had 3 bricked UD02 and now you have 2 perfect UHD drives and 1 BD drive. Winning!!

For anyone that feels this is not legit, the hardware thats needed for flashing was basically identical so this isnt forcing UHD onto a drive that shouldn't have it. This is legit UD04 firmware on a UD02 with a few tweaks.

Im working to do same on MediaTek still
