now that its a XD08U, i see that in "BDRFlash software" it shows up that now this XD05r has the Pioneer "PURE READ" Function with "Master Mode, Standard Mode, and "Perfect Mode"
these 3 modes were not able in the "Original XD05r firmware before!!

now i wanna try to crossflash my S12U to a S13U.

yea if "it says family mismatch" then nothing can be done

I dont know about all the models but an X12U looks like it would work. No idea why 1 or the other though. Too many Pioneer models for me to know what does what and the hierarchy.

I say nothing can be done meaning imo thats the limit I am imposing, the hardware underneath is different, hence family mismatch. You could go to Recovery mode and force it, but prepare for a brick

Just tried another model drive which i have, but it also says family mismatch..
its a BDR-209XJB flashed to become a BDR-S11...
took a chance to try and see if i could flash it to become a BDR-S12U, but it couldnt..
so thats no go for the moment.. who knows, maybe soon it can be done in the future? Hehehehe!! i have also sent you the log files, dump, and backup.

Yahooooo!! my S12U has now been successfully flashed to become a X12U!!

A family mismatch means I have validated the hardware is different (not just 1 piece of hardware like 5) so they will never match and work perfectly imo. It probably could flash, but with mismatched hardware goodness knows what would happen. High brick chance but if you have broken one try it under recovery as that skips all family checks.

Just successfully converted my S11 to S11JX with firmware dated 2023-02-08, revision 1.54.
put in a 4K UHD disc to rip, and its working!!

the ID was initially ID43, but with this firmware flash, it has now changed to ID72.

Yea ID is in the firmware downloaded and flashed. Its listed on website.

As far as I can tell it doesnt really mean much. Not something I have looked into a ton but seems low priority for flashing.
