Best thing to do is search for S12JX and see what it says its compatible cross flashes are. Its more than just 2 SATs, but again SAT is just a side fact not a decision maker.

Thanks buddy.. yes your post #52 shows that same family mismatch long code ending with 046 and e42.
mine is the 046 long coded family. cant move out of that family. i believe its the maximum it can do.
its ok, being a S11JX will do fine too..
just wanted to experiment like skyrider has done. his lucky to have the SAT 8801. Hehehehe!!

Yes no way to cross family. I could allow it, its my codes choice to not, but it seems really risky and the underlying hardware is different (this is how I partition the family codes by actual hardware in the firmware).

Restore may bypass that check so you could try if you really wanted a brick. If it gives same family check code I could add a checkbox to allow you to try

I really dont want to control what people do but this would be a pretty high chance of brick imo. The rest I have always felt self on (even when others insisted not too) as the hardware is identical.

adding the "CheckBox" might have adverse outcomes for your hardwork working on the existing failsafe mech u have now. "Bricking drives is not good" lets keep it as it is.

Yea the PR1ML took some work but hear it was highly asked for. Glad it working. I know I still have some bugs to work out on the more wacky cross flashes but Im getting there. Thanks for sticking with it!

Now I successfully "recovered" the drive to firmware 1.V9.
And I can confirm that writing CMCMAGBA5 media works with it again (does NOT work with 1.V2 and 1.V5, don't know about 1.V7).

Yeah, possible it's the MakeMKV firmware with that issue.

Although I tried 1.V2 from the FreeMKV download section, that's not original?

I can confirm that burning with the Makemkv version of 1.V5 causes coasters. The 1.V5 available in the forum here was sent by me to czary2mary and doesn't have these problems but is not UHD capable. Anyway -I suggest to only burn with a Pioneer drive and only use the Vinpower firmware for doing quality tests after burning. That's what I do.

YEs I also prefer Pioneer for recording.

That's interesting but leaves one factor out. The quality of multi-layer discs has degraded substantially and no write strategy can fix this. If you want to burn movies you can use this fork of TSMuxer to avoid issues at the layer break(s) by filling that area with dummy data. However, this doesn't help if you just burn data discs.

Yeah, I usually use my Pioneers for writing, occasionally I use my LiteOn writers, which I currently use for testing, to write a disc, and that's what I plan with the ASUS/LGs as well. If it works with 1.V9 now, I'm happy.
