crossflash Asus BW-16D1HT to Vinpower WH16NS48?

Ilość załączników: 1
Sorry for writing directly in english and for this kind of crossposting, but since when Cdfreaks/Myce closed (i was a member there too) this is the only old-school forum where these kind of informations are available.
So, I'm looking for softwares and firmwares to crossflash my Asus BW-16D1HT into a Vinpower LG (to have something more updated and to make error scan). My Asus was made in May 2014 so i think i've to crossflash to WH16NS48, not the NS58, am i right?
I've looked here https://forum.cdrinfo.pl/f29/asus-bw...o-cegle-96858/ and here: https://forum.cdrinfo.pl/f29/crossfl...8/#post1357850 but could find what i was looking for

Can anyone help me woth those files and some help? Thanks in advance

Zaglądałem tutaj https://forum.cdrinfo.pl/f29/asus-bw...o-cegle-96858/ i tutaj:

thanks to czary2mary i got flash_HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_WH16NS48_1.D3.bin and BH16NS40(1.03-A0)-patched.exe from here https://www.szybkiplik.pl/hmcYr8UELh
I tried "BH16NS40(1.03-A0)-patched.exe" on windows 10 and windows 7 (x64) and with both it doesn't recognize my Asus Bw-16d1ht, while another LG updater ( N1.03-C0_BH16NS40_150526_dev_NOBJ.exe ) does see my asus

Am i doing something wrong? what should i do? should i try to use N1.03-C0_BH16NS40_150526_dev_NOBJ.exe first and then BH16NS40(1.03-A0)-patched.exe ? (i don't want to risk too much cause i don't even have original ASUS firmware in bin format and cause i don't want to flash to the wrong firmware)

dzięki czary2mary mam flash_HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_WH16NS48_1.D3.bin i BH16NS40(1.03-A0)-patched.exe stąd https://www.szybkiplik.pl/hmcYr8UELh

unfortunately i've still not succeeded. :sciana:
i tried sdftool with MakeMKV but the program says i have 16dh1t with MT1939 and it should be MT1959. So sdftool flasher doesn't work either :( :( :( (it says something like "it's not the correct chipset" )
i disassembled the burner and the chipset is marked as MT1959UWDN 1416-BCSL FC4KFASH

So why makemkv says it's a mt1939 chipset? what should i do now?

i already tried :sciana::
1) BH16NS40(1.03-A0)-patched.exe but it doesn't recognize my asus 16dh1t
2) ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer_(Modified).exe .It finds the burner but doesn't flash to firmware DE_HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_WH16NS48_1.D3.bin
3) sdftool with makemkv doesn't flash firmware cause it says i have the wrong chipset (MT1939)
all these method tried with windows 10 x64 ( method 1 and 2 tried with win7 x64 too)

4) N1.03-C0_BH16NS40_150526_dev_NOBJ.exe finds my asus, but i didn't tried to flash firmware cause i'm afraid to brick it (i've been suggested to use BH16NS40(1.03-A0)-patched.exe only)

any other suggestion?
czary2mary you helped me a lot, do you have any other possible solution?
Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance

The problems are probably caused by this different hardware. I don't know why you have a different chipset in this equipment... I've never seen anything like this in this Asus/LG model...

The only hope is the modernized DosFlash V2.0 from this topic = you need a computer with Windows XP-32 bit / 7-32 bit.
DosFlash V2.0 patched to support BH16NS40/BH16NS55 drives

DosFlash V2.0
https://forum.cdrinfo.pl/attachments...40_patched.zip

But first I would backup the firmware also DosFlashV2.0 -

I don't know how possible it is to install the VinPower firmware correctly in this case !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

k thanks czary2mary but what do you think about that chipset "contraddiction"? MakeMKV says mt1939 but the chipset i took a photo of it's a mt1959uwdn ... why it is that? ]

if i find an xp-32bit or win7-32bit where i can try DosFlash v2.0, should i try to write to write flash_HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_WH16NS48_1.D3.bin ? and if it goes wrong i should be able to re-write again original firmware ? ]

To be honest, this is the first time I have seen such a case in this design... Production date: 2014.
I have no idea why it is like this - especially since the mt1959 chipset is at least 2015/2016 released...

Maybe it's a warranty unit that was repaired at the service center and has already received a newer version of the motherboard... The design of the motherboard comes from this design.

It's hard for me to say how the drive will behave after uploading the firmware from VinPower -HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_WH16NS48_1.D3.bin
The result is difficult to predict

You definitely need to make a copy of this unit's firmware first.

thanks again for your answer, i'll try to find a winXP 32bit or a win7 32bit where i can use Dosflash 2.0 with HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_WH16NS48_1.D3.bin and see what it can do.

i searched the forum to find an image of a BH16ns40 from 2012, doesn't it look the same as my Asus 16dh1t (with the same MT1959UWDN chipset) ?

i connected the asus 16dh1t to an old p5b-dx with intel sata controller in ide mode. i used a dvd+r live WinPE of Win8 32bit and used dosflash v2.0 to read the flash and it seems that it worked. the result is in the pic appended.

am i doing everything correctly? (i'll follow this guide: DosFlash V2.0 patched to support BH16NS40/BH16NS55 drives )

could i try to write VinPower flash_HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_WH16NS48_1.D3.bin without brickin it? or is it too risky?

Yes - you can try to upload the firmware from VinPower - hopefully it will be fine.
If it doesn't work well, restore/upload a copy of the firmware made with DosFlash V.2.0 of the Asus software

Thanks a lot czary2mary. I tried to write the firmware with Dosflash v2.0 and it seems that it worked!! :spoko:
My Asus BW-16D1HT is now recognized by Win7 x64 as a WH16NS48 1.D3, it can read BDr and DVDr, and it does BDr disc quality, not sure if it burns BD/DVD well cause i haven't tried it yet but i hope there won't be any kind of problem.

Now i'll check WH16NS48 thread to see how it works better (what are its best disc-quality read speed and CMCMAG5 write speed)

Thanks again czary2mary, have a great Holiday :)
