So I got the error now on v0.10.7 and with the force option disabled. This time I tried to go from 212M 1.05 to 212U on 1.05. I just downloaded that one from the archive. Maybe the issue is on my part. I'll retry with v0.10.5 that i used yesterday.
The error is as follows. OEM KernelFe write failed at offset 0x11200, length 4096 ***8212; the drive may now hold a partial firmware; re-flash the captured pre-flash backup to restore it: SCSI transport failure on \\.\CdRom0: E4000: 0x3b/0x02/0x04/0x4c/0x02 (cdb=[3b, 07, fe, 01, 12, 00, 00, 10, 00, 00], direction=ToDevice, requested=4096, attempt=1) |

With v0.10.5 I got it from 212M 1.05 back to S12J-X 1.01. But now i tried going to 212U 1.05. It gave me the same error, but at a different position.
To me it seems, that crossflashing from and to a higher version does not work, same with crossflashing from a pre 12/22 FW to a 2023 one. Ostatnio zmieniany przez Flowery : 08.10.2026 o godz. 00:28 Powód: spelling mistake |

also interesting BDR-209XJB before this I crossflashed it into S11JX. Based on your analysis could be crossflashed even to S12JX. hm.
based on bdrflash manual: BDR-208/S08, BDR-209/S09 and BDR-211/S11 drives can all be crossflashed into each other. BDR-212/S12 and BDR-213/S13 drives can be crossflashed within the series with the same model number BDR-X12 and BDR-X13 drives can be crossflashed within the series with the same model number. If you select the BDR-S11JX, the freemkv website much like the bdrflash guide lists models 8, 9, and 11 as options for cross-flashing. However, if you select the 209XJB (SAT 8601), the freemkv site suggests models 9, 11, and 12. This may well be accurate, given that this drive uses the BD11 board, unlike the standard 209 model, which uses the BD08 board. Ostatnio zmieniany przez Stingray : 08.10.2026 o godz. 01:06 |

From looking at these two they seem the same internally for most part just different enclosures. That said not sure what cross flashing would give you feature wise in this instance.
UPDATE: BDR-S11J-X 1.53 (2020-08-03) differs by 36 bytes in Normal (0.0018%, with COMP expanded) compared to BDR-S12J-X 1.01 (2020-07-21). BDR-S11J-X kernel 1.53 (2020-08-03) differs by 23 bytes in Kernel (0.0351%) compared to BDR-S12J-X kernel 1.00 (2019-01-10). My analysis says hardware thats important is identical, and that the firmwares are also basically identical. I see no reason you can't cross flash but also no reason you'd want to. Stingray - backup should be fixed in next release
Flowery - The post downgrade non OEM Kernel will also be fixed, so we always leave things 100% OEM. 0.10.8 probably tomorrow sometime. Flowery, also diagnosing your write failure issue still |

thank you
based on your info even bdr-205 could be crossflashed into bdr-206. I have bdr- 205 with one laser blinded; I'll check such crossflash soon. Ostatnio zmieniany przez Stingray : 08.10.2026 o godz. 08:35 |

oh yes, Mattjackson how do we send files to you? like pioneer firmware files i have collected these past few years..trevbot collects the files, but there is no option of a database he shares freely..i have used his utility to send files to him, but no option of at least a (free in exchange of 1 file to get the opportunity of getting another file free in exchange) i already sent him my XD05,UD03, UD04, X12U... but i still only have "Survey Access" Hehehehe!!

PM me and Ill share a link that goes right to me. Ill take ANYTHING. Dumps will help me, firmware. Anything and if its good to share on website I will
I can't say what it will and won't do, especially if its regards UHD ripping not in freemkv as I wouldn't know. Suppose you could try and downgrade back if so. Ostatnio zmieniany przez mattjackson : 08.10.2026 o godz. 09:01 |

No, just the extension Pioneer use for firmware. The locked or unlocked is purely the ability of the ripping tool to be able to work with that firmware or not. No idea what MakeMKV support there
