thanks again for your help (you helped me via pm a couple of times at cdfreks/myce too, years ago), as i'm explaining here crossflash Asus BW-16D1HT to Vinpower WH16NS48? the patched LG flasher ("BH16NS40(1.03-A0)-patched.exe") doesn't find my asus while another flasher ("N1.03-C0_BH16NS40_150526_dev_NOBJ.exe") see it. so i'm not sure what to do (i'm on windows7 x64)

It is possible - first you need to upload the firmware without LibreDrive

Thanks, it's not every day that I flash drives, I'm afraid to turn mine into a brick. I've looked at this site several times, but I didn't get a picture of the procedure.
Is it right that the link has DE firmware for ASUS 3.1 which can be over my 3.11? I read that 3.11 can not be simply rolled back to a lower version, only with some utilities. I don't think there are any utilities in the archive, only firmware. What LG version should I install in the end? I don't need anything from the video data, just a scan of the recording quality of my backups. |

You need an unlocked flasher or SDFTool Flasher.
You need to upload the firmware without LibreDrive, only then you will be able to upload the firmware from VinPower. https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/view...p?f=16&t=22896 |

Z takim firmware go kupiłem, nic w nim nie grzebałem. (jeśli trzeba najpierw wgrać bez LibreDrive to również bym o taki soft poprosił). |

I just did a successful crossflash of ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.10 to LG WH16NS60 1.03 firmware from the MakeMKV firmware package using SDFTool 1.3.6 :-)
This firmware fixes issues of ASUS stock firmware (i.e. not writing some disks, hanging the controller, etc), sleep bug, and opens door for disks not supported to write before (i.e. I could only write to RITEK/DR3 aka TDK BD-R DL 50GB on Pioneer now ASUS/LG writes too)! SDFTool is awesome because it allows crossflashing even encrypted burners and rollback / rescue broken drives, works out of the box on 64-bit OS, supports all sorts of drives.. and is not detected as malware unlike most other tools ;-) After flashing power off / on is required, then old ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.10 reports as HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH16NS60 1.03 :-) Used info from this post Flash WH16NS58 to Enable UHD Disc Quality Scanning. DOWNLOADS: 1. MakeMKV Firmware Pack: https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/view...p?f=19&t=19113. 2. SDFTool Flasher: https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/view...p?f=16&t=22896. Big Thank You @jadburner and @czary2mary !! Good to see someone still cares about CeDeROMs ![]() Cytat:

Ok, following the instructions above I flashed my ASUS BW-16D1HT from encrypted 3.11 to ASUS 3.10MK, then the WH16NS60 1.03MK firmware, and from that I went to the WH16NS58 1.V5 firmware. But with the 1.V5 firmware the drive wouldn't write to BD-Rs anymore, I always get a write error. I was able to write a BD-RE with 1.V5 though. Then I went back to the WH16NS60 1.03MK firmware, and it writes again as normal, thus this doesn't seem to be the issue mentioned on the MakeMKV forum, that after crossflashing ASUS writers to LG firmware (or vice versa) it could be to be unable to write at all, but here the crossflashing to LG 1.03MK firmware doesn't seem to cause any such issue, thus there seems to be something wrong with the 1.V5 firmware from the MakeMKV firmware package?

Kinda surprises me though, I used CMCMAGBA5 media, i.e. what I thought to be pretty common media, and it gave me a write error. I just wanted to know if the ASUS writers I bought aren't defect, thus I wanted to do a test burn, which I did with the LG firmware then. Which leads me to another question, is there a supported media list for LG drives available anywhere? I got those lists for all Pioneer drives I have, but I couldn't find anything from LG. |

If I remember correctly, the VinPower drive firmware has write strategies for CMC MAG BA5 media, as seen in the screenshot from VinPower's PlexTool. It's important to remember that the firmware for these drives is designed to work with duplicators, recorders, and other specialized VinPower devices. Especially on new systems/hardware, there can be various surprises... The firmware for version 1.V1 was developed by Jadburner/Blackened2687 and myself and is 1000% correct. I don't remember who developed version 1.V5; I don't know if it's ours.

If I remember correctly 1.V1 is for the MT1939 chipset while 1.V5 is for MT1959. So it shouldn't be used on a MT1959 drive because it could brick it. 1.V5 was taken from Mike's MK firmware collection in the Makemkv forum and also makes the drive UHD capable. I don't know anything about it's origin. It's also always good pratice to reboot the PC after a flash. Try this and then try again to burn a disc with 1.V5. And use Vinpowers VPTools to check the disc as it was suggested above. |

So far, I've done three successful cross-flashes. But my goal was Q scanning BD-R|RE, I also checked recording, but reading UHD isn't important to me.
In all three cases, after the first installation of firmware 1.v5, the drive had problems with BD-R/RE. I simply did another reflash of 1.v5 Mk - no MK, 1.v5 no MK - 1.v5 MK or 1.v5 ->1.v7. After that, there were no problems with MID that you mentioned. But remember, ASUS 3.11fw has more options for writing at high speeds for your MID code than Vinpower fw. a screen below -I performed multisession recording and you can see all available speed options for MID: CMCMAG-BA5. This MID code varies greatly in quality.
